Named for paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson, who discovered the “Lucy” fossil, one of the most complete skeletons of Australopithecus afarensis ever found. (52246) Donaldjohanson is a contact binary asteroid with two lobes joined by a narrower neck. The smaller lobe is named Afar Lobus and the larger lobe is named Olduvai Lobus. The neck is named Windover Collum.
